Class 4/17

My Indesign Picture Layout My Story   For my magazine story I am doing "Meet Professor Danley". Professor Danley is my China Reveled teacher. She immigrated from China and I think her story would provide great insight to the students of High Point. I want to write up her story and show how great of a professor she is. As a class we are doing a cooking class and I think that is going to give me a great picture opportunity. I am excited for this project to come all together.  Thanks for reading :)

Color Swatches

Intro A couple of weeks ago I went to the beach and my friends and I went on a boat ride. We decided to stay on the water for the sunset and I am glad we did because the sunset was magnificent. I took a picture of it and decided to use it as inspiration for my color swatches. I love all the different colors that shined through the image. Inspiration Color Swatches I decided to use the blue, yellow, and pink color for my color swatches. For the extra tints of each hue I tinted the colors to 75% and 50%. I personally love the colors when they were tinted to 50%. Creating these color swatches helped me understand how InDesgin works to help line everything up and make everything equal. Name Plates After reading Become A Master Design: Limit your fonts,  Become A Master Design: Limit your colors,  Become A Master Design: Contrast, Contrast, Contrast, I learned how to create my name plates so they were appeasing to the eye of the audience...

Composition

Intro   For my magazine spread I have decided to do " Who is Professor Danley" This week we did not have time to meet out of class so I only could capture some quick images of her. She is my China Reveled professor and she is an immigrant from China so I thought that her story would be interesting. To get started I read the "14 Composition Techniques that Will Instantly Improve Your Photos" and "10 Top Photography Composition Rules." They really help me understand what composition was and what techniques I could use to help me capture great images. Photo #1: Viewpoint  I decided to take a photo of the globe because Professor Danley is from a different part of the world. I  took many different shots of the globe at different viewpoints some may say I was working the shot and I think that this shot from a bottom angled viewpoint was my best one. Photo #2 Layering  When I first saw these flags I wanted to capture negative space with them b...

Movie Poster Prep

Photo Progression Tools The tools I used were the quick selection tool, adjustment layers ( Color balance, hue/saturation, vibrance, brightness/contrast) and the mask tools. Videos/ Readings -Limiting adjustment layers with masks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvZ5yFn1dCY - Organizing layers into layer group https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/how-to/photoshop-reduce-chaos-layer-groups.html What I did The first thing I did was I used the quick selection tool to select the people out of the photo. I did not want the background so I used the quick selection tool to select what I wanted and if it selected things I did not want I would click option/alt and click what I wanted to get rid of. After I made the selection, I made it into a smart object so I could make resize the image without losing any pixels. Then I duplicated the layer into my movie poster psd. Once I placed it i...

Make Memes Not War

Steps 1. The first thing I did was quick select the image of my friend so it was just her not the background. The original image is pictured below 2. I then made the image into a smart image so I would not lose the pixels when I resized the image to fit into the classroom photo.  3.  Next I resized the image to fit into the classroom picture. 4. Next I increased the vibrance and brightness on the smart image of my friend. 5. After I finished touching up the smart image I felt like something was missing so blurred the background using the gaussian blur filter. 6. Finally I added text and played around with the color and the outline of the text.  What I Learned For this assignment we had to create our own meme. Personally I love memes and find them so funny, so when we were given the assignment I was excited and eager to learn how to do it. After watching all the How to Meme videos I learned...

Instagram Filters

Check out my instagram filter on these photos ↓↓↓↓ Before Add caption Before After Before After What did  I  do? I started on the "Be Happy" photo and played around with the different adjustment layers. After I was satisfied with how the photo looked, I applied the same settings to the other two photos. Before I finished creating the "filter" I played around with the different adjustment layers to see how they would affect my photo. It was interesting to see how each adjustment layer affects the overall photo. How to make the filter  Vibrance  Vibrance: +55 Saturation: + 10 Brightness/ Contrast Brightness : +30 Contrast : +50 Selective Color White: Cyan-0%, Magenta- -2%, Yellow- -75%, Black- -48% Yellows: Cyan- 0%, Magenta- 0%, Yellow- +9%, Black- +60% Cyans: Cyan- +9%, Magenta- +34%, Yellow- +34%, Black- +100% Hue/ Saturation Hue: +1 Saturation: +20 Lightness: +4 What did...

Welcome to my life... It's a real Paige turner

Here's Why.... Hi everyone my name is Paige Larini. I thought that I would tell you a little bit about myself before diving into my course work for my Comm 1113 class.  Who am I and what am I doing with my life I am currently a freshmen at High Point University and studying strategic communications with a minor in marketing. I currently live right outside the city of Philadelphia (GO BIRDS)! I have always grown up there and have loved every minute of it. I decided to come down to North Carolina to get a sense of a different atmosphere. I have enjoyed every minute of it, even when I say something to my friends and they do not know what I mean. For example when I say "can you pass me that jawn" I get those puzzled looks and I have to remember that not everyone understands some of my vocabulary. Ohana My family consists of my older brother, my mom, my dad, and my little black lab. My brother is currently a junior here at High Point which has made the transition to...
