Composition

Intro
For my magazine spread I have decided to do "Who is Professor Danley" This week we did not have time to meet out of class so I only could capture some quick images of her. She is my China Reveled professor and she is an immigrant from China so I thought that her story would be interesting. To get started I read the "14 Composition Techniques that Will Instantly Improve Your Photos" and "10 Top Photography Composition Rules." They really help me understand what composition was and what techniques I could use to help me capture great images.

Photo #1: Viewpoint

I decided to take a photo of the globe because Professor Danley is from a different part of the world. I  took many different shots of the globe at different viewpoints some may say I was working the shot and I think that this shot from a bottom angled viewpoint was my best one.

Photo #2 Layering

When I first saw these flags I wanted to capture negative space with them but when I was working the shot it became more of a layering shot. I personally really like the layering of the flags and I think that it helps bring focus to the first flag.

Photo #3 Framing

This picture captures Professor Danley being framed by the door way. I wanted to use the composition technique of framing because I think it helps show focus to the main part of the image. Taking this photo helped me understand how framing works. I felt if I did not capture the top of the door way the photo would not have been framed correctly.

Photo #4 Lines

In this photo I tried to use the composition technique of lines to focus on her while she was teaching. I used the lines off the white board to lead the eye of the audience to the desk that she was standing at. Now looking closely at the image I wish that we moved the desk closer to the board so the lines would lead right to her. I will keep practicing and I hopefully will get a better image using lines for my magazine spread.

Photo #5 Symmetry

I took this image of this thing in my living room because I did not have enough time to meet with Professor Danley outside of class to get more photos. This photo is using the technique of symmetry and I think symmetry makes photos really calming to look at. While trying to capture this image I really started to notice the amount of work and patience that goes into taking a symmetrical image.  I hope to capture a symmetrical image to use in my magazine spread. So stay tuned for that coming soon!

Thanks for Reading :)
